I believe both VRV and Funimation give free trials as well. Unless you're on a grandfathered funimation account with cheaper pricing (which you would not be) - there's no reason you could't do this. You can always get both or cancel one, then grab the other. And if you run out of content there, move along to VRV. And has pretty much a similar amount of dubbed content as VRV offers. And you'll get way more "current content" dubbed there - as they tend to have more simuldubs. Combined, they probably have more dubbed content than Funimation. VRV gets you Hidive and Crunchyroll for 10$ which is a steal. So you don't really need that (honestly other than a few anime movies, almost everything on Hulu is also on funimation). Hulu has a few exclusives but almost everything Hulu gets, funimation gets. I think you can cover about 95% of dubs by doing Funimation, VRV, and Netflix now a days. The biggest complaint I've heard about CR from the anime community at large, is that they don't always add the Uncut versions of shows, and don't always stream the OVAs, but I haven't really noticed that much personally at least with their dubbed licenses.Īs pretty much everyone has said here. The apps seem pretty solid, and are available on most platforms. CR had been doing significantly more dubbing same season to 1 season behind in the last year or so. Probably a good amount of crossover with what you've seen on Hulu and/or Netflix (at least in terms of their bigger titles).Ĭrunchyroll - Not nearly as big of a collection as HiDive or Funimation in terms of English dubs, but does have a decent number of older anime, and expanding collection of more recent shows (including a number from when Funimation and Crunchyroll would split licenses). HiDive also has a search category just for Dubs, which makes browsing for dubs much easier than most other platforms. HiDive isn't as ubiquitous as Crunchyroll or Funimation in terms of apps, but tends to be available on the bigger devices. They've also been going back and dubbing shows for physical releases that got passed over initially, and releasing them weekly, or all at once (about a 50/50 split). HiDive is partnered up with Sentai, so most of their stuff are Sentai licenses. They tend to do a couple of Dubcasts each season for seasonal shows, usually about 3 weeks behind the sub (released weekly, or as a batch of 3 episodes). HiDive - HiDive has probably the next biggest collection of English dubs after Funi. Funimation has also recently partnered with Aniplex, so that's something to consider going forward.

The biggest drawback to Funimation is that the apps can be pretty buggy, but on the plus side they're available for most devices. Funimation is also pretty good about adding the Uncut versions of shows (usually alongside the physical releases), and making them easy enough to access.

In order of priority I'd go with the following:įunimation - Definitely the biggest collection of English dubs, with about 6-8 Simuldubs (anywhere from same day to 6 weeks behind) weekly each season, they also will add entire "new" series a couple of times a year.
